Yesterday I went shopping with the gifts cards I received for Christmas. I decided it was high time for me to own a camera. Currently, my photography skills are abysmal but hopefully that will change with time and practice.
I snapped a few pictures while I was on the way up to visit my little nephews and nieces.
Grats man! I’ve been looking at a few different kinds of camera’s to get and start using. Help in documenting mid ride feeling and perceptions. So I don’t lie to myself afterwards haha.

I am a rather frugal person by nature, so this was I big deal for me. I have wanted one for a while, but I always pushed it aside because I didn’t “need” one. I am really happy I finally decided to get one.

Good luck with the photos. Since it is a digital camera, you can probably take video as well. I look forward to the shots.

Don’t feel any pressure to do so. It was merely and idea.

Hey, no worries Anthony, sorry if my comment came across weird, that “Yes!” was an “I am really excited to try out videotaping” yes! 😉

Your comment wasn’t weird at all–I just have that way about me–I don’t want to be misinterpreted. Of course, I don’t want you to try shooting video while riding either–unless you’ve got a GoPro.

I promise I won’t attempt biking and filming simultaneously, I don’t want to record footage of a humiliating tumble into the snow, that’s for sure 😀

As soon as I started taking pictures yesterday, I felt like “wow I should have bought this a while ago”.
There is so much in my life that I want to be able to look back on years from now: my first year of winter biking, all my adorable little friends as they grow up, pictures of my dogs doing silly stuff. And now I will be able to!

Those are some good shots. I have 2 friends who are professional photographers and I always hound them for tips. The three tips they always say are divide your viewfinder/screen in thirds ie put the focus in a third of your screen like you did with the piece of farm equipment, change the angle/perspective of your shot, and your feet are the best zoom.

Those are great tips, plus they aren’t technical so I should be able to put them into practice, thank you!

My camera is deceased and I miss it – blogging just isn’t the same without it. You will find your camera a great way to document your travels, I’m sure.
